To those who live abroad, Hugh got married at the weekend (months ago Angus was heard to exclaim "my brother's getting married, wtf?"). At the celebratory ceilidh we danced three morris dances (Dilwin, beansetting and muffin man) and managed to break a stick to give to the happy yet wary couple. Jules had already left and I don't know if she's angry or not, let me know. Congratulations to the couple and all that. As has been mentioned, there hasn't been much use of this forum, and as I'm now in Wellington I might have to hand over oversight to someone (if it's possible). Wassail, Seaxred. Current Mood: pleased

Since this is the only community I belong to, and since it's nearly two years since the last entry, AND since I should be going flat tack on something else I need to have ready in about 5 hours' time, I thought I'd look in and say hi, and see if anyone noticed.
Bummer about Waihi Bush. Who's going to Waipara this year?

Polly and Patrick had a lovely wedding at Whare Flat
yesterday/last year. I'll be putting photos up within the week, including pictures of bride, groom, bridesmaid and others dancing muffinman!
[BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE]
New photos are now on the website. I'll now write a little more about what happened now. Polly and Patrick got married in the outdoor chapel at Whare Flat in a Christian wedding. Afterwards we formed an honour guard with Morris sticks and the couple and wedding passed underneath. Quickly scurrying to get the stickbag, tatters and appropriate footwear we regrouped to watch Flakey Morris do a dance (forget which one, but I suspect it was something I know deep down). We snuck in before they had a chance to do their next dance (the guy with the great sideburns was puffed) and we danced muffin man on a soggy patch of ground.
The obligatory wait for wedding photos ensued, in the meantime we met up with visiting Morrisers and some old (as ex-, not elderly) Wickliffe members. We managed to do dance Woodhouse Bog with the help of Keith and Dave Barnes from Bedlam? (they called it Keel Row).
The reception was great with many speeches, so much so that we ran out of time and moved tothe main tent where some of us moved chairs and sound gear, others opened presents and held court and the rest with some of the others sang drinking songs with the Flakey Morris and others. Then ... the barn dance. I think we can be proud!

Yeah, just by way of first entry. Welcome to this new LiveJournal community. As a sign of things to come I will write the Wholly words:
My friend Billy has a ten foot willy
and he showed it to the girl next door.
She thought it was a snake, and hit it with a rake,
and now it's only five foot four.
